Beat the Oklahoma Heat: Durant Cooling Center Open for July and August

Here in the Durant area, we love our hot Oklahoma summers—but we also know just how intense that mid-summer heat can get. When temperatures climb, staying cool isn’t just about comfort; it’s a matter of safety and well-being for everyone in our community.

Part of being a good neighbor means looking out for one another, which is why we want to highlight an incredible local initiative designed to keep our community safe, cool, and cared for during the hottest stretch of the year.

From July 6th through August 31st, the team at Feeding Hope is opening the doors to a dedicated Durant Cooling Center, offering free relief from the summer heat for anyone who needs it.

Where & When to Find Relief

Whether you work outdoors and need a quick break to lower your core temperature, find your home AC struggling to keep up, or just need a safe, air-conditioned space to rest, you are welcome here.

• Location: Feeding Hope, 424 E. Florida St., Durant, OK

• Dates: July 6th – August 31st

Weekly Hours:

• Monday through Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

• Sunday: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

More Than Just A/C: The cooling center is open to absolutely anyone needing relief from the heat. In addition to a cool environment, they will have free food, water, and other services available to help support visitors.
